For more than two years I have been accompanying the U5 construction site project in Frankfurt as a photographer on behalf of Porr Germany. It is fascinating to see the development and progress of this major project up close. This work not only enables me to continually grow as a photographer, but also constantly confronts me with new challenges that need to be overcome. It is crucial to always stay up to date with the latest technology in order to be able to continually offer my customers innovative perspectives. During my most recent mission, I used the DJI Avata, an FPV drone that stands for “First Person View”. In contrast to conventional drones, I experience the flight perspective directly through video glasses, which enables an immediate and intensive flight experience. One of the biggest advantages of this drone is its ability to maneuver through the tightest of openings since it has no additional sensors. The result is a much more dynamic flight than with standard drones. However, there is a certain risk that collisions can occur more easily due to a lack of sensors. Fortunately, the drone is very robustly constructed.
